FAQ - Can I import from Money?

Question

Can I import from MS Money?

Answer

GainsKeeper and Microsoft have partnered to offer GainsKeeper's tools and service to MSN and Microsoft Money users. Users can do an initial import of their MSN or Money data into GainsKeeper. This import should be used as a one-time import to bring GainsKeeper up-to-date with all trade information in your MSN/Money portfolio. At this time, the import cannot be used to synchronize subsequent changes to your MSN/Money portfolio with GainsKeeper. After your initial import, MSN/Money users should update their GainsKeeper and Money portfolio separately. Subsequent trades should be imported directly into GainsKeeper using your brokerage's OFX server.

To do an OFX import from your brokerage, use the 'Add' link located to the right of your brokerage account on the Portfolio Overview page. This will allow you to import or manually record trade data into GainsKeeper from various sources.

Note: If you have successfully imported your MSN/Money trade data into GainsKeeper and try to re-import your MSN/Money data a second time, you will be required to delete all previously imported data and start over. If you choose to start over and re-import your Money data into GainsKeeper, use the 'Import from Money Portfolio' link located at the bottom of the Portfolio Overview page.
